You don’t find coins like this everyday is a fact. These type of coins (if found) are very rare. If you ever find a rare US coin like this metal detecting, consider yourself lucky and cherish the moment. We were metal detecting with the Minelab Equinox and XP Deus and one of these machines found this rare coin.
A Very Rare US Coin Indeed
Luckily, I was invited to hunt on a really interesting permission where this very rare US coin was found. I was hoping to find Civil War relics at this location. Unfortunately, we didn’t find anything related to the American Civil War.
Instead, I was lucky enough to witness and record something really special. My friend dug up an 1837 Capped Bust Quarter (Shown above) and it is one of the best coins I have ever seen come out of the ground. The coin is both stunning and amazing to look at. Check out the video below to see the moment it saw the light of day for the first time in approximately 182 years.
Best Metal Detectors on The Market Today
I’ll be honest, I think 2 of the best metal detectors on the market today are the XP Deus and the Minelab Equinox. I’ve witnessed other machines at this site that were unable to produce the type of relics and coins found by these 2 machines. The key advantage is their ability to adapt and adjust to their ground conditions.
Earlier that day, I was getting schooled by the Equinox. But after comparing notes with Ari, I realized I needed to get more depth and target separation due to all the junk and iron in the ground,. Once I adjusted the XP’s Reactivity and Silencer, I switched over to the the X&Y display to get a better understanding of my targets. Within no time at all did that sweet sound of copper come whispering through the iron. If I wouldn’t have had an adaptable metal detector that day, I don’t think my hunt would have been that successful. The XP Deus and the Minelab Equinox are 2 machines that can adjust to almost any ground condition.
Minelab Equinox Vs. XP Deus Who Won This Round?
On this hunt it was the Minelab Equinox Vs. the XP Deus, there is not doubt that on this hunt the Equinox won the round. With 2 KGs, Indians, and the ridiculous 1837 Capped Bust Quarter, the Equinox stole the show and rightfully so. But don’t count out the Deus just yet. There is another video coming that may present a different outcome. In the meantime, check out both machines going head to head in the video below.
