About This Site

Thanks for stopping by. I am really excited to bring to you Mental Metal Detecting. This is something I’ve been wanting to create for a long time. Hopefully you will find a lot of useful information here to include helpful tips, reviews, recommendations as well as a full section dedicated to beginners. I’ve been creating a lot of metal detecting content over the years so the intent of this site is to share my knowledge and experience with you.

In addition, I’m also a YouTube creator. I have a channel called The Mental Metal Channel and I’ve racked up over 4 million views with over 14,000 subscribers (and growing). I have a ton of videos to watch on my channel. and I encourage you to check some of them out. Pay close attention to the “Must See” playlist. I hang out with some interesting people.

If you are new to metal detecting, this is a really exciting time to give it a try. There are new machines coming out every year that keep getting better and better. My plan for this site is to provide you with the most useful and unbiased information that’s available.

Mental Metal

Here is a little about me. I started this hobby back in the early 90's. My first detector was a Whites 5900 DI. I found enough clad the first summer (around $400) to pay it off. Then I stopped detecting... Fortunately, I didn't give it up for good. Here I am 20+ years later and I've rediscovered the joy of metal detecting.
