After a very long wait, XP finally released the update to their XP Deus II Metal Detector. The Deus 2 update V1.0 was made available May 15th 2023 but it quickly became an issue for some users. As a result, XP quickly addressed the issues and released V1.10 a week later. The update is already receiving a lot of praise by many of Deus II owners. But what did XP actually update?
In this article we are going to unpack all of the updates and provide you the link to XP where you finally get this long awaited update yourself.
Updates to The RC Remote
XP took their sweet time releasing V1.10 and it appears to worth the wait. There are several updates to both the RC and WS6 puck but we’ll focus on the RC updates in this section.
Volume Control For Tone Breaks
You can now change the volume of each tone break by increasing or lowing the volume from 0 (lowest) to 10 (highest).
Full Tones Has Been Significantly Enhanced
Full tones in the V.71 had a few flaws that were definitely addressed in V1.10. Sound quality has been improved. Down averaging has been fixed but XP also gave owners a couple new features for Full Tones. There is a Full Tones offset. According to XP’s (in their own words), “The Offset Full Tone feature allows the user to shift the “Full Tone” audio frequencies of targets with a signature just above the Discrimination threshold, in order to better differentiate them audibly from iron.”
0 = The offset is disabled
5 = default
10 = more pronounced
40 = The max
XP also added the capability of changing the tone of the threshold. Owners can now adjust the frequency from 150 to 603 Hz.
Frequency Limits Have Been Added
This is a new feature that is going to be a game changer. Owners now have the ability to adjust the frequency band limits. The limits include 14 kHz – 24 kHz or 40 kHz.
A New Audio Filter Has Been Added
According to XP, “This function is to filter the audio and produce softer and more fluty sounds, especially when target is at the detection limit.”
A New Audio Type Has Been Added
A new audio type of High Square has been added to Pitch, PWM, and Square. High Square is a more fluty sound and will appeal to coin shooters.
Ferrous Target ID Can be Turned off (FE T.ID)
This will be a really nice feature when owners find themselves hunting iron beds of nails etc. XP now gave owners the ability to turn off target IDs associated with iron. By default in in version 1.10, Iron IDs are enabled. If you want a fast target T.ID you can disable this feature and you will notice a faster target id presented back to you.
The Silencer Has Been Updated
The new Silences has 8 levels of adjustment from 0 to 7. By default most setups with need a silencer set at 2 or 3 but there will be circumstances when more silencer will be needed. If you need more discrimination of ferrous targets, XP recommends the following:
- increase the Silencer to 3, 4, 5 etc.
- increase the disc level to 8-10
- use bottle cap (B.caps) reject
- Reduce the max frequency down to 24 kHz or 14 kHz
Big Number Display is now on by default in Program 1 (General)
With the big number display enabled for the General program (program 1) you also get a silencer setting at 2. The changes they have made to General are really noticeable. The General program is a good program to learn if you are new to metal detecting or coming over from a different machine.
What Did XP Add to The WS6 Master Setup?
Everything mentioned above is also included in version 1.10 for the WS6 Master.
Multi-Notch is Now Included for The WS6 Master
In the previous version .71 owners of the WS6 Master only had the capability to use 1 notch. However, in version 1.00 and now in 1.10, XP added 3 levels of notch which is now equivalent to the RC or Remote.
What’s The Price of The WS6 Master vs The RC (Remote) Setup?
For around $1599 you can purchase a fully equipped XP Dues 2 w/Remote, wireless backphones (WS6) and a 9″ or 11″ DD search coil. You might find a vendor who will also sell the 13″ DD coil as an option.
But if you only wanted to spend around $799 you could come away with a fully capable XP Deus 2 Metal Detector. The only item missing is a speaker. The audio will only come through the included WS6 headphones. You can also purchase (separately) WSA II, and WSA XL headphones.
As far as performance, there is no difference between the WS6 Master and The RC (Remote) setup. The WS6 Master is a much lighter footprint with a slightly different shaft and no backlight. But other than that, both setups are perfect for anyone looking to try out a Deus 2 on any budget.
Where Can You Get the XP Deus II V1.10 Update?
XP offers the update on their website. Simply go here and follow their instructions. I highly recommend watching this video first. You can now update the Deus II if you have a Mac OS.
Where Can You Pick The XP Deus 2 or WS6 Master?
If you are looking for one of the metal detectors mentioned in this article you can find them over at Fort Bedford Metal Detectors. They offer fair and competitive pricing with great service and support. Give them a chance to earn our business but make sure you tell them Scott from Mental Metal Detecting referred you. Give them a call directly at 1-814-215-1732 or place your order on their website.
Where Else Can You Find The XP Deus 2?
If for some strange reason Fort Bedford Metal Detectors doesn’t have the Deus 2 in stock, Kellyco will sometimes carry them. You could also check Amazon but keep in mind that you are missing out on the sales and support of a local dealer. I always try and give my local dealer a chance to earn my business.
