hey guys scott here for the mental mental channel and mental mental detecting.com today i'm getting
0:26
ready to go to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in a couple weeks. And I'm going to take the CTX
0:32
3030 from my lab with me. And I thought I would go over some of the settings that I use on the
0:37
beach. And these are by no means the ultimate settings. I, as most people are with the CTX
0:43
3030, continue to learn and evolve with this machine. So this machine has been around a long
0:49
time. I got this machine from our friends at Fort Bedford Metal Detectors. If you're looking for one
0:53
of these machines you know reach out to those guys and see if they can't hook you up today
0:59
I'm just going to run through some of my basic settings and then give you a couple options for
1:04
for going deeper these settings will be pretty universal I think for most people on the east
1:11
coast if you get into some black sand things like that then I have no idea what to tell you on that
1:16
one because I just don't hunt those conditions so let's get into it let's uh let's get going here
1:21
and kind of walk through this it's pretty simple this machine is really really easy to operate
1:25
out of the box if you learn the menu system I have a few videos on this machine that you can
1:33
check out on my channel I have a playlist for them I'll link in the description for you so if
1:38
you wanted to just get get around the navigation learning how to get around the menus I got a
1:43
couple good videos on that all right so let's get started so the first thing you're going to do
1:48
when you come into this machine is you're going to want to pick your search program so to do that
1:54
you go to your middle button there and I already have beat selected but you may be up here at um
2:00
coins or something but you want to come down into the menu itself and you want to hit beach and you
2:07
want to make sure you hit that middle button to select it and sometimes if you might have to do
2:13
this twice to get into edit mode but once you do come down into edit mode and this opens up the
2:19
whole menu system for the beach program now the default patterns one and two i don't really change
2:25
too much i usually hunt in pattern two which is wide open um where i hunt in hilton head i don't
2:30
really need to do a lot of discrimination because most of the targets there are pretty pretty
2:35
familiar i know what i'm doing now but i like to i like to leave it wide open and i recommend doing
2:40
that I recommend you guys do that as well. Coming down to tone ID profile, you don't need to do anything there
2:48
My response, I leave it normal. Now you have some options in here
2:53
And I went through those in different video but I find that normal for the for the type of audio that comes through your headphones is the best for me so this is all based on your own settings to get back out hit the trigger button
3:07
and then come down I always have I have sometimes I'll check recovery fast this one I do
3:14
have it checked recovery deep I do select that and the most important one of all is seawater you
3:22
must have that turned on for this machine to work properly at the beach that works with both wet and
3:29
dry sand so make sure you select that now target separation because hilton head is very very low
3:36
trash i have it selected for low trash but if you wanted to pick a different scenario here
3:42
if you have a really trashy beach you could try high trash i've actually used ferris coin
3:48
before, and it works pretty well as well, so you can try that as well if you want. I've never tried
3:55
ground coin, so I'm not really sure if that would work well or not on the beach, but I know Ferris
4:00
coin does work, but I usually stick to low trash and go with that. Pinpoint, now some people
4:10
well, I go back and forth. I typically will use normal, but I have tried sizing before
4:17
and I'm kind of on the fence with that, but I think once you get used to that, it might be an
4:22
advantage to you. I think it helps you understand or helps you get a good understanding of how big
4:27
the target is, but for now, for most people, normal will probably do the trick just fine
4:33
and I think that's it for the menu for the beach program so if we go back out
4:40
there's another option here let's get to the main menu sensitivity so if we hit that once right now I have mine set up for auto and that's usually
4:54
fine right so you're going to get pretty deep with this setting I think you're going to get
4:59
around 12 inches or more with this setting but if you wanted to go get super deep targets this is
5:05
what I recommend selecting manual going back and holding it down again going down in here and
5:13
selecting this or you can do it I'll show you another way what I found that if you bump this
5:19
number up to around 24 or higher as long as the machine is stable it doesn't really get erratic
5:26
you can really dig some deep targets with that. So that's just something to keep in mind. Now
5:33
if you get out of here and you select that and you want to change it on the fly, all you do is
5:39
hit a quick press of the sensitivity button and then you can back out of that setting or you can
5:44
go back up in that setting. It's up to you. But that's a quick press once you have the manual
5:49
settings selected Now to get out of this it a little weird but go back to trigger hold down the sensitivity go back up to where you have sensitivity type manual select that and then it puts you back into the option to change it to back
6:08
to auto that screwed me up a couple times I didn't understand how to get back there
6:13
so now you should be in auto yes so there's that let's see what other things oh for your audio
6:21
options so if you hold down your audio button these are your these are your default settings
6:27
that I don't really change too much volume gain is at 25 your threshold is at 30 volume limit is 30
6:35
threshold threshold pitch is at one by default these are pretty much what I go with I don't
6:42
change these too much so go with these you can mess around with these settings but I find them
6:47
to be pretty good. Let's see, what else do I need to show you? I went over all the audio settings
6:59
I went over the manual sensitivity to get you deeper. Oh yeah, ground balance. So if you
7:08
get out of here, go into your ground balancing option, hold down that button. You have two
7:14
options. You can enable ground balance or you can start ground balance. I don't check this box. I
7:20
leave ground balance off. So that is a pretty basic. Most people leave ground balancing off
7:26
but some people use it, but I leave it off. And that's really up to you, I guess, if that's what
7:32
you want to do. Now, the other thing I will tell you is at the beach, it might be a good idea
7:38
once every so often, maybe once an hour or so, maybe less, maybe more, is your noise cancel
7:47
If you hold in this button, right now I have my noise cancel to be automatic
7:52
So if you want to do it manually, you can, but I recommend leaving it on auto
7:58
And then when you're out and about and you need to take a break or something like that, maybe it's a good idea just to hit that noise cancel feature so it runs through the whole noise canceling process
8:06
whether you need to do this or not I find this thing I find doing this makes your machine run
8:12
a little bit smoother um but nine times out of ten you may not have to do it at all but I always
8:19
like to do it once when I first start hunting and then when I take a break or something I'll do it
8:22
again um I've seen I've seen forums out there where people do it every hour um not not sure I need to
8:29
do that at Hilton and Hilton ends up really really clean and quiet beach so uh the machine down there
8:35
to run super stable, so I'm not too worried about that. The one thing I will emphasize again on the beat setting
8:43
that I just can't stress enough is you have to make sure
8:52
just I'm really stressing it folks. If you don have seawater on you are not going to get a good experience and this machine will not run the way it should And I just telling you you must have that checked A lot of people
9:06
forget that. But if you're going to the beach, you want to make sure that's turned on
9:12
I think that is it. I'm looking at my notes here. I'm telling you that the CTX
9:18
it looks complicated it looks intimidating but it really isn't um i've had good success with this
9:25
at the beach and um i actually prefer swinging this now i'm getting ready to take the xp days
9:31
two down with me but the my machine of choice on the beach is the ctx 30 30 uh it does get a little
9:36
heavy but uh i i just love using it i think it's a really fun machine to use and the visuals you
9:42
get the visual patterns you get from it. You get to see what's hitting there and you kind of know
9:49
on the pattern where it's hitting. You kind of know what's good, what isn't. I just really enjoy
9:54
using this machine. It was so far ahead of its time when they built this machine
10:00
All right. I think that's all I have to show you on the CTX 3030 beat settings. If you have a
10:05
setting or a program you want to share with the community, drop me a comment. Put it in the
10:11
comment so people can see it themselves. I'll actually have an article up on my website with
10:15
these settings as well so you can follow along if you don't want to, if you didn't watch all the
10:19
video. By now you probably won't hear this, but I'm going to have an article up on my website that
10:24
gives you all this information as well. So it's there and so sometimes I like to use those as
10:30
references if I'm out and about and forget something. So I always resort back to my blog
10:34
posts so they're out there for you guys as well all right i think that's it for me today if um
10:42
like i said if you have any questions or you have your own great beach settings you like to use and
10:47
the conditions please post a comment share them with others and um um you know join me over on
10:53
patreon where we've been talking about this machine a little bit i got a couple guys over there run a
10:58
ctx and we're comparing notes a little bit so if you want to do something similar with any of the
11:03
machines you have, join me on Patreon. And we have conversations over there about metal detecting
11:08
new things coming out, what I think, some predictions, things like that. So yeah. And if
11:15
you guys are looking for this machine, give Fort Bedford Metal Detectors a look and give them a
11:19
chance to earn your business. I would really appreciate that. And make sure you tell them
11:22
the Mental Metal channel sent you over. All right, guys, that's it for me today. Thanks for coming
11:27
over and watching the video. I know it was pretty quick and short, but pretty much to the point. So
11:32
Thanks for watching and I'll see ya in another mental video
